Education is an open and dynamic system undergoing permanent changed and upgrades in accordance with the economic, technological and scientific developments of society, as well as cultural and other changes simultaneously occurring locally, regionally and globally. The lifelong learning process imposes on citizens of all ages the need to acquire new and upgrade already acquired knowledge, skills and competences. [1]

New expectations and demands facing European universities in the 21st century are rapidly growing in times of social and economic development underlying the well-known concept – “Europe of Knowledge.” European universities are expected to become strong, autonomous, inclusive and provide research-based education and thus enable learning that will answer the upcoming challenges. [2]

In following this path, the University of Sarajevo continues its activities to develop new curricula and introduce changes to existing ones, bearing in mind the strengthening of higher education through quality education. By reforming the programs, the University has expressed its aspiration to fully comply with the Bologna Declaration guidelines, as emphasized in the Prague Communiqué stating that building of the European Higher Education Area is a prerequisite for strengthening the attractiveness and competitiveness of European HEIs.
