Cooperation between University of Sarajevo and Charles University Announced
Within the cooperation between the Bosnian Medical initiative and the “Swallow" Prague NGO, on Monday 28t November 2011, Prof. Dr Tomas Zima, Dean of the First Medical Faculty, Charles University in Prague, Doz. Dr Ondrej Hrušak, Dean of the Second Medical Faculty Charles University in Prague and Doz. Dr Arnošt Martinek, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ostrava visited the University of Sarajevo's Rectorate. Prof. Dr Faruk Čaklovica, Rector, University of Sarajevo received distinguished guests, while Prof. Dr Bakir Mehić, Dean of Faculty of Medicine in Sarajevo, Prof. Dr Senija Rašić, Vice-Dean for Academic Affairs, and Mr. Benjamin Vojniković, Secretary of the Faculty attended the meeting.
At the meeting, discussions about future opportunities for scientific and technical cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and Charles University's medical faculties were led. The aforesaid cooperation would take place through the exchange of students, faculty exchange and joint organization of doctoral studies.
Prof. Dr. Tomas Zima, Dean of the First Faculty of Medicine, presented the Charles University in Prague, pointing out that this was one of the leading Czech Universities and one of the oldest European universities. At the Charles University in Prague, which is consisted of 17 Faculties, more than 47 000 students are enrolled.
During the conversations Rector Čaklovica introduced distinguished guests with the history and organization of the University of Sarajevo, and informed them about current events and activities planned for the coming period. Rector Čaklovica also expressed great pleasure due to announced future cooperation, and thanked to Dean Mehić, who presented to the guests the capacities of Faculty of Medicine in Sarajevo.
After the mutual interest and willingness were expressed, in the future the relevant administrative procedures will be undertake with the goal of signing the Agreement on interuniversity Cooperation.
