Tempus Project “Curricular Reform of Heritage Sciences in Bosnia and Herzegovina“ - BIHERIT Kick Off Meeting
In the UNSA Rectorate on Friday 1 February 2013, the two-day kick off meeting for the Tempus Project Curricular Reform of Heritage Sciences in Bosnia and Herzegovina – BIHERIT began.
Prof. Dr. Muharem Avdispahic, Rector of the University of Sarajevo delivered a welcome speech. Mr. Suad Muhibic, Head of National Tempus Office in B&H and Doz. Dr. Salmedin Mesihovic, BIHERIT contact person, also addressed the attendees.
The BIHERIT is a Tempus project coordinated by the University of Sarajevo and one of 108 Tempus projects which were selected as the best during the entire last year competition. This project is to carry out the curriculum modernization at three B-H universities (Universities of Sarajevo Tuzla and Banja Luka) in the area of history and archeology. The program’s reform includes the following activities:
- Reforming the master studies from Archeology at the University of Sarajevo;
- Modernization of Bachelor and Master Studies in history at all three universities where modules in the area of heritage, archeology, art history, conservation/preservation and museum study would be presented.
In addition to establishing master studies and new heritage modules presenting, this project is striving to secure new trained personnel, who will after the project ends, take over all activities regarding the project sustainability. In addition to trained personnel, this project ensures high quality archeology equipment, updated library, network between the B-H university institutions and EU partner ones.
Partners in the project are: University of Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) - the coordinator, University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), University of Primorska (Slovenia), University of Vienna (Austria), McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research (UK), Free University of Berlin (Germany), University of Tuzla (Bosnia and Herzegovina), University of Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Museum of Republic of Srpska, and the Commission for Preserving B&H National Monuments.
The BIHERIT project will last for two years: from October 2012 to October 2014.
