PRESS RELEASE
On occasion of the 01/14th Session of the BH Rectors’ Conference 

 

In the UNSA Rectorate on Thursday 8 May 201, the first session of the BH Rectors’ Conference was held. Rector of the University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Muharem Avdispahic, Dr. h. c. chaired the Session.

Representatives of all eight public universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina attended the session: Prof. Dr. Stanko Stanic, Rector of the University of Banja Luka, Prof. Dr. Refik Sahinovic, Rector of the University of Bihac, Prof. Dr. Sead Pasic, Rector of the “Dzemal Bijedic” University in Mostar, Prof. Dr. Dejan Bokonjic, Vice-Rector of the University of East Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Ljerka Ostojic, Rector of the University of Mostar, Prof. Dr. Muharem Avdispahic Dr. h. c. , Rector of the University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Enver Halilovic, Rector of the University of Tuzla and Prof. Dr. Dzevad Zecic, Rector of the University of Zenica .

The BH Rectors’ Conference expressed concern about the failure to adopt the Rulebook on the acquisition and use of academic titles, scientific and professional titles that may cause to graduates difficulties due to the non-recognition of their academic, scientific and professional titles at the labor market.

The competent education authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina did not give consent to the draft text of the regulations on the acquisition and use of academic, scientific and professional titles, at which all public universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina have given their consent at the in the Ministry of civil Affairs of BiH of 22 October 2013.
The BH Rectors’ Conference expects from the Ministry of Civil Affairs to provide an explanation of the reasons why the Rulebook is not adopted, and expresses the consensual support of the Rulebook, which after was after adjustments sent into the adoption procedure.

During the session, the participation of public universities in B&H in the Erasmus+ program was discussed. The Erasmus+ is the new EU program for education, training, youth and sport that will last from 2014 to 2020.

The BH Rectors’ Conference has been informed about the study visit of representatives of public universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized by the Embassy of the United States of America and the US Government, based on the call of the US Government to participate in “International Visitors Leadership Program” - the international exchange visitor program.

The initiative for cooperation between the BH Rectors’ Conference and Conference of the public universities of Austria (UNIKO) was adopted.

Representative of the Youth Communication Centre from Banja Luka (OKC) presented the IPA project ”Curriculum for transparency, curriculum for responsibility“ that is being implemented by the Centre for Media Development and Analysis (CRMA) .

The BH Rectors’ Conference considered the state of access to scientific databases and it was agreed that on one of the following sessions, recommendations for establishing relevant databases and coordinate activities to ensure access to these databases should be made.
