Cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and the Council of Europe

Within the European Union and the Council of Europe’s joint project  “Strategic Development of Higher Education and Qualification Standards“ implemented in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2013 to 2015, the Council of Europe and the University of Sarajevo plan to organize a series of joint conferences on the topic of analyzing the situation in higher education area.

A round table attended by Council of Europe experts - Jocey Quinn, Karen Roberts and Bruno Curvale, and University of Sarajevo’s academic community representatives (full and associate professors, assistant professors, tutors, assistants, senior assistants, researchers) was held on Monday, 7 July 2014. At the panel discussion, the topic was gathering of information in accordance with the matrices for analyzing three topics that are the subject of the project which are the link between the labor market and higher education, internationalization and student experience. Another roundtable discussion will be held on Tuesday, 8 July 2014, with representatives of the University management and administration, as well as with student representatives.

One of this project’s goals is to strengthen the expertise and capacity in the country. This project continues from previous European Union and the Council of Europe’s joint projects by supporting higher education reform in Bosnia and Herzegovina since its accession to the Bologna process in 2003. The project is implemented by the Council of Europe Office in Sarajevo with the support and expertise of the Council of Europe’s Directorate for Democracy and its international experts network.
