A Visit by the Council of Europe Experts

Within the European Union and the Council of Europe’s joint project “Strategic Development of Higher Education and Qualification Standards“being implemented in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2013 to 2015, from 7 to 9 July 2014, the Council of Europe and the University of Sarajevo were the organizers of a series of joint conferences on the topic of analyzing the situation in higher education area.

On that occasion in the University of Sarajevo’s Rectorate, on Wednesday 9 July 2014, Rector, Prof. Dr. Muharem Avdispahic, Dr. h. c. had a meeting with the Council of Europe experts: Ms. Jocey Quinn, MS. Karen Roberts and Mr. Bruno Curvale.

One of this project’s goals is to strengthen the expertise and capacity in the country. During the meeting, the cooperation between the higher education institutions within the higher education area was emphasized as a symbol of European integrative processes. The goal of the cooperation is to make possible for higher education institutions form B-H, graduates, personnel and current students to use the European opportunities and take full charge of development in B-H.

A round tables that had been held at the University of Sarajevo  were attended by University of Sarajevo’s academic community representatives (full and associate professors, assistant professors, tutors, assistants, senior assistants, researchers), representatives of the University management and administration, as well as with student representatives. On that occasion panel discussion were led with the goal of gathering information in accordance with the matrices for analyzing three topics that are the subject of the project which are the link between the labor market and higher education, internationalization and student experience.

The “Strategic Development of Higher Education and Qualification Standards“ project is implemented by the Council of Europe Office in Sarajevo with the support and expertise of the Council of Europe’s Directorate for Democracy and its international experts network.
