Senators were informed about the letter of the University of Sarajevo Union’s Central Committee addressed to the Sarajevo Canton Government, which had been previously submitted to the Faculty and Academy councils. In the letter, the reasons for initiating procedures to strike, scheduled for 8 September 2014, as well as the requirements of the Union were listed. The requirements aim to sort out the accumulated problems in the functioning of the University of Sarajevo’s organizational units. UNSA Senate unanimously supported the University of Sarajevo’s Union and justified demands they advocate.

Senators were informed about the first enrolling term for the first year of the first cycle of studies in 2014/2015 academic year. After the first enrolling term, there are 4885 places taken at UNSA Faculties and Academies of the approved quota - 6127 students. UNSA organizational units, which did not receive, in the first enrollment period, the planned number of candidates will be announce and implement the subsequent enrolling term until 29 August 2014.
Faculties and Academies must submit the requests for extending and making changes to the structure of enrollment quotas in accordance with the special and human capacities that enable the efficient implementation of the teaching and scientific process to Friday 18 July 2014.

At the session, election into academic titles was done for 21 teachers from six Faculties and one Academy in Sarajevo. Also, the Senate gave approval to two associate elections at one scientific institute.

The University of Sarajevo Senate issued a Decision on the Call for the election of academic personnel at the Academy of Fine Arts, Academy of Performing Arts, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Political Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Law and Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

The UNSA Rulebook on recognition and awards giving, which sets out awards and prizes awarded by the University of Sarajevo and the conditions and procedure for awarding them, was also adopted.

At the Senate session held, University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Muharem Avdispahic, Dr.h.c. conferred upon Prof. Dr. Smail Cekic the University of Sarajevo Medal award for his outstanding contribution to the establishment and operation of the UNSA Institute for Research of Crimes against Humanity and International Law and scientific results in the field of Researching the Crimes against Humanity and International Law.

UNSA Senate appointed a new member to the Committee on normative issues, a professional and advisory body to the University of Sarajevo Senate, on behalf of the Humanities.

The UNSA Academic Calendar for the 2014/2015 academic year was adopted with incorporated calendar of activities for the organization and implementation of study programs at the University of Sarajevo in 2014/2015 academic year.

At the Session, held Decisions were also made for 19 PhD candidates in the process of acquiring a PhD at seven Faculties.

The Senate, under the item “Consents to curricula” approved:

•    Curricula changes for the subject Directing - second cycle studies at the Department of Directing, UNSA Academy of Performing Arts;
•    Amendments to the curriculum of the first and second cycles studies (Geodesy and Civil Engineering), UNSA Faculty of Civil Engineering.

The Senate, under the item “Announcing the Calls for competition for candidates enrolling in the third cycle of studies”, approved:

•    A call for competition for student enrolling in the third cycle studies - doctoral studies at the UNSA Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, in 2014/2015.
•    A call for competition for the enrollment of the second generation of students in third cycle studies – PhD studies in the field of "Renewable energy and environmental technologies" at UNSA Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in 2014/2015 year.

They adopted the education program “Foreign Languages Course”" (ante Bologna studies) within the lifelong learning framework lifelong learning at the UNSA Faculty of Administration.

The Senate adopted the opinion of the Committee for normative issues related to the general regulations of organizational units, in conjunction with the Framework Plan of the UNSA Steering Committee for the 2014.

The Senate accepted the feasibility study for establishing “Center for Public Policy of the European Union", University of Sarajevo within the framework of the Tempus Project: “Development of Policy-Oriented Training Programmes in the Context of European Integration”- DEPOCEI. The Center will be located at the UNSA Faculty of Political Sciences.

Within the item “International cooperation”, the Senate adopted a list of partner universities from European Union states with which the University of Sarajevo has established cooperation in the area of students, teachers and staff mobility in the Erasmus Mundus program Action 2. The University of Sarajevo has exercised the right to participate in any approved project in the Erasmus Mundus Action 2 (before its merging with the Erasmus + project after which it ceased) making it unique among higher education institutions in the Western Balkans region.

The Senate adopted the report by the UNSA Publishing Council, which gave consent to the publication of four books as university publications.

At the 24th Session, the UNSA Senate established a Commission that will determine the state of the academic network and make recommendations for priority investments to improve it.
