Info - Session within the 1HEALTH Tempus Project 

AN info-session within the 1HEALTH Tempus project and presentation of results from the previous research on this project – “Testing needs of the BiH economy and markets in order to strengthen capacities in the fields of public health and promoting the ONE HEALTH concept' will be held at the UNSA Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Sarajevo on 11 and 12 September 2014.

The University of Sarajevo (Faculties of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine) participates in the Tempus project “PUBLIC HEALTH IN THE WESTERN BALKAN STATES – SECTOR IMPROVEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT OF ‘ONE HEALTH’ HIGHER EDUCATION AND SCIENTIFIC ARCHITECTURE (1HEALTH)", which is being implemented together with universities (Faculties of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine) in Milan (Italy) - project coordinator, Barcelona (Spain), Porto (Portugal), Ljubljana (Slovenia), East Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Pristina (Kosovo), and the Agency for Development of Higher Education and Quality Assurance of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Agency for Development of Higher Education in Kosovo and WUS Austria. The objectives of this project are to strengthen the teaching and research capacity in the field of public health and connecting with the EU institutions, promotion of the ONE HEALTH concept in the Western Balkans, as well as developing and implementing master studies in this area, together with European partner institutions.

One of the first project activities was to investigate the national or regional needs of the economy and markets in the area of public health, with the aim of incorporating them into the master studies’ curriculum. Specifically, the planned master study aims to educate and promote the ONE HEALTH concept and application of EU standards in the countries of the Western Balkans, but in the extent and in form that will correspond to the current level and reflect our needs in this area.
