The 25th  UNSA Senate Session Held

 


 
The Senate of the University of Sarajevo held its 25th regular session with 11 agenda items on 24 September 2014.

Senators were informed that the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Education, Science and Youth issued a Decision on the institutional accreditation of the University of Sarajevo. The solution was delivered to the University of Sarajevo and the Agency for Development of Higher Education and Quality Assurance of BiH with the aim of taking the steps and measures prescribed by the Framework Law on Higher Education and the Law on Higher Education of the Sarajevo Canton.

At the session, Rector, Prof. Dr. Muharem Avdispahic, Dr. h. c. presented the Resolution on appointing Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hrasnica at the position of the Dean of the UNSA Faculty of Civil Engineering.

Under the item “Implementation of Student Enrolment Plan academic 2014/2015 academic year” Rector Prof. Avdispahic reminded Senators of the Senate Decision of 16 July 2014 which gave approval to organizational units which meet the physical and human capacities in accordance with the Higher education standards and norms in the Sarajevo Canton, to have the additional student enrollment in the first year of the first cycle of studies at the University of Sarajevo in 2014/2015.

At the session, 35 teachers from 14 UNSA member institutions were elected into higher academic titles.

The Senate decided to announce the Call for competition for the election of academic staff at School of Economics and Business, Faculties of Electrical Engineering, Islamic Sciences, Sports and Physical Education, Health Studies, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Medicine, Pedagogy, Agriculture and Food Sciences, Law, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine.

The approval was given to the engagement of teachers from other home and abroad universities to seven faculties, and the equivalence was granted to performed elections at one UNSA Faculty.

At the session, Decisions were also made for 59 candidates undergoing the process of acquiring a PhD at fourteen UNSA Faculties and one Academy.

The Senate gave its consent, within the item “Consents to the Curriculum" to:
•    Changes to the curriculum for Dramaturgy - the second cycle of studies at the Department of Dramaturgy, UNSA Academy of Performing Arts,
•    Amendments to the curriculum of the second cycle of studies at the UNSA Faculty of Architecture, University of Sarajevo in 2014/2015,
•    Changes to the curriculum of the second cycle of study - Adizes School of Management (ASM) ("+1" and "+2") in cooperation with the Adizes Graduate - Adizes Academy of Management, USA and the UNSA School of Economics and Business,
•    The curriculum of the second cycle of studies Corporate Communications Management and Public Relations "+1" and "+2", which is implemented in cooperation with the University of Mostar Faculty of Philosophy at the UNSA School of Economics and Business.
•    Changes to the curriculum of the third cycle of Bologna studies - Doctoral studies from the main area Philosophy, study lines Contemporary Philosophy 2, Department of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo Faculty of Philosophy,
•    A list of elective courses for academic 2014/2015 year at the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Philosophy,
•    Innovated second cycle studies curricula in all departments of UNSA Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences,
•    Innovated first cycle of studies curricula at the Department of Geography, UNSA Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, in the three study courses: teaching, regional and urban planning and tourism and environmental protection, for all four study years,

 A list of admitted candidates for newly done competition for admission to the third cycle studies – PhD studies entitled “Pharmaceutical Research” at the UNSA Faculty of Pharmacy.

The Senate gave consent, within the item “Calls for competition for enrollment in the third cycle of studies” to:
•    Call for competition for enrollment in the third cycle studies – PhD studies at the UNSA Faculty of Transport and Communications, in 2014/2015
•    Call for competition for enrollment of the first student generation of the third cycle studies – PhD Studies in Pedagogy - Theories and research of creative education at the UNSA Faculty of Pedagogy in 2014/2015.

Within the item “International cooperation”, Senators were informed about the summer school “Rethinking the Culture of Tolerance - The New Challenges of European Integration Process”, which was held at the University of East Sarajevo from 15 to 21 September 2014, organized in cooperation with the University of Sarajevo and University Milano-Bicocca. The school is intended for students of master and doctoral studies in the social sciences in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, the countries of region and the European Union as well as international students. The project will last for three years and each of the participating universities will host one summer school.
Also the Senators were informed that during the visit of representatives of the City College of New York on 22 September 2014, the possibilities of establishing academic cooperation and the signing of the protocol on cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and the City College of New York discussed.
The European Association for International Studies (AESI) from Rome in collaboration with the University of Sarajevo and EUFOR organized a Forum that was held in the UNSA Rectorate on Tuesday 23 September 2014. In the framework of AESI, the results of the second cycle of studies “State Management and Humanitarian Affairs” were presented as well as programs for peace, integration and culture of tolerance implemented during the long-term cooperation of the University of Sarajevo and the “La Sapienza” University in Rome.

The Senate adopted the Report of the UNSA Commission for the recognition of foreign higher education qualifications. The commission for academic recognizing of higher education qualifications was also established.

The Senate adopted the report of the UNSA Publishing Council, which gave consent to the publication of five books as university publications. Also, the Senate passed the Decision on amendments to the two members of the editorial board of Pregled : časopis za društvena pitanja.
