Prof. Dr. Norbert Richard Wolf, professor emeritus at the Institute for German Philology, University of Würzburg and Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Riedel, University of Würzburg Vice-Rector visited the UNSA Rectorate on 20 November 2014. They were hosted by Prof. Dr. Muharem Avdispahic, Dr. h. c., Rector of the University of Sarajevo and Prof. Dr. Vedad Smailagic and Prof. Dr. Vahidin Preljevic from the Department of German Studies, UNSA Faculty of Philosophy.
During the meeting, the implemented activities under the existing agreements on academic cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and University Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg were discussed, including the possibilities of improving cooperation under the new Erasmus + program. The agreement was signed in December 2010 and its objective is to promote academic and cultural cooperation between these two institutions through the following activities:

•    Interconnection and exchange of teachers, faculty members and students;
•    Joint participation and application for accessing the funds intended for educational, research and artistic work;
•    Carrying out joint programs, symposia, conferences, seminars, summer schools courses, workshops and other types of cooperation of mutual interest;
•    Exchange of scientific literature, textbooks and other university publications.

The collaboration between the University of Sarajevo and University Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg began in 2000 supported by the DAAD. Many students and assistants had the opportunity to spend three months in Würzburg, studying and writing there the diploma and master's theses. In 2009 the cooperation was raised to a higher level by organizing joint doctoral studies at the University of Sarajevo called “German language and German literature in the context of media culture” and by signing an international agreement between these two universities. This year, 7 BA students, three MA students and six PhD students from the Department of German Studies, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo went there to study, for research stay and workshop. The cooperation also includes the exchange of teachers.
