In cooperation with BH and Italian partners, a meeting between CERIC-ERIC Representatives and BH scientists was organized at the University of Sarajevo on Wednesday, 17 December 2014.
UNSA Vice-Rector, Prof. Dr. Faruk Mekic, Dr. Stefano Stucci, Deputy Head of the Mission, Embassy of Italy, Mr. Ammar Mirascija, Head of Department of Science, Ministry of Civil Affairs, and Dr. Fabio Mazzolini, CERIC-ERIC Deputy Director for European and International Affairs delivered welcome speeches.
During the meeting, the CERIC-ERIC consortium, its role and importance were presented. There were also presented CERIC-ERIC’s instruments, checks of the multitechnological and multidisciplinary basic and applied research at the nano-level in the areas of materials science and biomaterials. The possible cooperation between the CERIC and BH scientific institutions was discussed.
CERIC-ERIC is a unique multidisciplinary and multitechnological consortium for research infrastructure focused on Central Europe. Its aim is to provide an open and integrated approach to research infrastructures and information for researchers from the world.
The ERIC (European Research Infrastructures Consortium) is research infrastructure combining the best research centers and specialized laboratories from participating countries in tightly integrated network that is capable to function at the highest quality level and to guarantee open access. CERIC is the first Italian based ERIC. It is hosted at the research center Sincrotrone Elettra in Trieste. In addition to Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia are consortium members. Other countries, including Croatia, Hungary and Poland are expected to join.
During the first CERIC-ERIC'S general assembly, which had been held in Milan on 22 July 2014, the first decision on the rapid initiation of activities of the consortium was adopted and Carlo Rizzuto chosen as the consortium’s legal representative. CERIC-ERIC representatives endorse internationalization, research mobility, EU integrative processes and cooperation with the Horizon 2020 representatives.
