The University in Sarajevo Senate held its regular 28th session on n 23 December 2014, with 13 agenda items.

In accordance with the Rulebook, at the held session, Samir Arnautovic was reelected to the position of the University of Sarajevo Student Vice-Rector for the year of 2015.

At the session, 27 teachers from ten UNSA Faculties and one Academy were elected into academic titles, and approval given for three elections into scientific titles at two Faculties.

The University of Sarajevo Senate decided to make the competition call for election of academic staff at the following University of Sarajevo Faculties: Electrical Engineering, Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies and Civil Engineering.
The engagement of teachers from other universities (from home and abroad) at two Faculties was approved.
At the Senate session, decisions were made for 20 candidates in the process of obtaining their doctorate of Sciences at seven UNSA Faculties.
Under the item “Curricula approval”, the Senate gave its consent to:

•    The curriculum for the third cycle (PhD studies) at the UNSA Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, in the fields: Mechanical Constructions, Modern engines and vehicles development, Defense technologies and Wood processing science and technologies;
•    Amendment to the third cycle curriculum (PhD studies) at the UNSA Faculty of Architecture.

The Senate approved competition call for enrolling candidates at the third cycle of studies at the Faculty of Administration.

Senators were informed about the implementation of the student enrollment in the first year of the first and second cycles of studies at the University of Sarajevo in the 2014/2015 academic year.

At the Senate meeting, the minutes of the first meeting of the Commission for the preparation of proposals for the allocation of funds of the Federal Ministry of Education and Science for funding/co-financing projects in the area of science and scientific institutions equipping projects from the Budget for 2014 were presented and adopted.

Within the “International cooperation” item, the Senate decided to award H.E. Mohammed A. Althakafi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the University of Sarajevo Medal for his support to the University of Sarajevo’s development and outstanding contribution to the project “University of Sarajevo’s University Library”.

The Senate gave its consent to the signing of a cooperation agreement between the University of Sarajevo and the University of Tennessee (USA), as well as to the University of Sarajevo‘s joining the “Evoltree” association. Senators also got informed that at the 9th Conference of Confucius Institutes, the Establishing memorandum for founding the Confucius Institute at the University of Sarajevo was signed.

The Senate adopted the UNSA Publishing Council’s report and gave approval to two publications to be issued as university publications. Also, the Decision on extending the mandate of previous members of the Publishing council was rendered.

The Senate adopted the report of the UNSA Commission for the recognition of foreign higher education qualifications.

Within item “The implementation of the obligations under the Statute of the University of Sarajevo’s Article 214”, Senators were informed about the analysis and conclusions of the UNSA Legal Issues Committee regarding the monitoring of the implementation of the provisions of the UNSA Statute in order to identify the implementation of general acts.
