The 30th UNSA Senate Session 

 

On 25 February 2015, the UNSA Senate had its 30th regular session with 14 agenda items.

At the Senate session, the approval was given for 34 teachers for electing into higher academic titles and for the call for competition for electing faculty members at certain UNSA member institutions. The approval was also granted for amending the second cycle curricula at the UNSA CIS for the 2014/2015 academic year.

At the Session, Senators were reviewing the UNSA financial plan for 2015 that will be subsequently submitted to the University Steering Committee for approval.

At the Session, 38 PhD candidates were approved.

The UNSA Senate approved amendments curricula at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Medicine, and the non-cyclical Education - Lifelong Learning Programmes at the School of Economics and Business, University of Sarajevo and the Lifelong Learning Programme for improving the UNSA faculty competencies.

The Senate supported the initiative to establish a joint interdisciplinary study “Informatics in the administration” to be implemented by the UNSA Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and the Faculty of Administration, an associate member of the University of Sarajevo.

The Senate approved the final list of candidates to be enrolled in the third cycle studies at the Faculties of Political Sciences, Natural Sciences and Mathematics and Faculty of Forestry.

Senators were informed about the Sarajevo Canton Government decisions adopted the 87th session of 28 January 2015 related to the amount of participation fees, the registration fees and other costs of study at the University of Sarajevo.

The Senators pointed out that the Sarajevo Canton Government should take account the integration processes at the University of Sarajevo when making decisions and the Senators stressed the importance of dialogue on strategic issues of the University and higher education with the new Sarajevo Canton Government immediately upon its establishment.

The Senate rendered a decision to confer upon Dr. Kurt Kalcher, professor at the Karl-Franzens University in Graz, Republic of Austria, in recognition of outstanding contribution to the scientific advancement of the academic personnel of the University of Sarajevo and increasing their scientific referentiality and competence at international level, an honorary doctorate of the University of Sarajevo (doctor honoris causa Universitatis).

The Senate approved entering into an Agreement on cooperation in teaching and performing scientific research between the University of Sarajevo and the Srebrenica Memorial Centre.

The Senate approved the proposed cooperation agreements and a new mobility practices within the auspices of the Erasmus + program.

The Senators were informed that Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) and the University of Sarajevo jointly organize the Fifth International Congress “Islamic civilization in the Balkans”, which will be held in Sarajevo, from 21 to 23 May 2015.

The Senate adopted the reports by the UNSA Publishing Council and the UNSA Commission for recognizing foreign HE qualifications. 

The improvement of the ISSS system was also discussed.

The Senators were also informed about the holding of the Second Symposium on the Bosnian Language to be held in Sarajevo on 12 and 13 March 2015 and about the project proposals within the recent Erasmus + Program (Capacity Building) call, in which the University of Sarajevo participates in the Partner Country category.
