UNSA Rector, Prof. Dr. Muharem Avdispahic, HonDSc had a meeting with Research Center for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) representatives Director General, Dr. Halit Eren, Prof. Dr. Amir Pasic and Prof. Dr. Cengis Tomar. During the meeting, the future cooperation the University of Sarajevo and the Research Center for Islamic History, Art and Culture was discussed. Special attention was paid to the holding of the Fifth International Congress “The Islamic Civilization in the Balkans” in Sarajevo from 21 to 23 May 2015. The event is organized by the Research Center for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) and the University of Sarajevo.
The Fifth Congress’ Opening Ceremony will take place at the University of Sarajevo, on 21 May 2015, beginning at 10:00.
Welcome addresses by UNSA Rector, Prof. Dr. Muharem Avdispahic, HonDSc and Dr. Halit Eren, IRCICA Director General will open the event. They will be followed by opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Mehmet İpşirli The Conquest of Bosnia and Its' Importance for Balkan Conques) and Prof. Dr. Enes Karic Logics, philosophical and theological sciences in Ottoman Bosnia.
The aim of the Congress is to shed light on the role and position of the Islamic civilization in the region as well as the past and prospective contributions to the cultural interactions between the peoples of the region. At the same time, this will be an opportunity to assess the state of research as well as the problems and perspectives of studies “Islamic civilization in the Balkans.”
