“Reactivate Sarajevo” International Forum

In Sarajevo, from 28 to 31 May 2015, the kick-off of the “Reactivate Sarajevo” International Forum kickoff meeting will be held. Inspired by the vision “Let’s activate Sarajevo,” the Forum brings together academicians, policy and practice of more countries in one place. The goal is to develop projects as real solutions in order to raise the quality of life and sustainable development of our city.

Supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs (EDA) through the Swiss Embassy in Sarajevo, the Forum is organized by the Urban-Think Tank, Department of Architecture and Urban Design ETH Zurich as an opportunity to meet and initiate new ideas, new technology and new energy.

The central part of the Forum will be held in the “Dom Mladih Skenderija” on 29 May 2015 from 10:00 to 16:30 in the format of three thematic sessions with input presentations and discussions: “Social and Cultural Management”, “Creative Economies” and “Green Perspectives” (last session in cooperation with the IBU Sarajevo and the University of Sarajevo).

Speakers of the Forum are important names in the area of culture, architecture, urban planning, entrepreneurship and governmental and nongovernmental organizations. The project is led by Prof. Alfredo Brillembourg  from the ETH Zurich, a recipient of the “Golden Lion” Award at the Venice Biennale in 2012. Other participants are Justin McGuirk, writer and critic, Charlie Koolhaas, a Dutch artist, writer and photographer and Zenit Djozic, Nenad Velickovic, Bojan Hadzihalilovic and many others.

The entrance to the central part of the Forum in the “Dom Mladih” on Friday, 29 May 2015 is free and registration is not required which is in line with the idea of the Forum as an open format to discuss the challenges and potential of Sarajevo.
