The University in Sarajevo Senate held its 34th regular session on 24 June 2015 with 14 agenda items.
UNSA Rector, Prof. Dr. Muharem Avdispahic, HonDSc presented the resolution on the appointment of Prof. M.Sc. Marina Finci to the position of the UNSA Academy of Fine Arts Dean.
Senators were introduced to the organization of the International Scientific Conference Srebrenica 1995-2015 - Evaluation of Heritage and Long-Term Consequences of Genocide that will mark the 20th Anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide. The conference will be held in Sarajevo, Tuzla and Potocari from 9 to 11 July 2015. The organizers are the University of Sarajevo Institute for Research of Crimes against Humanity and International Law, University of Tuzla and Srebrenica - Potocari Memorial Center and Complex. The conference will gather 84 presenters from BiH and abroad who will present 75 papers.
The University’s Work Plan for 2015 was unanimously supported and it will be forwarded to the UNSA Steering Committee for taking further actions.
21 teachers from seven Faculties and one Academy received approval for electing into higher academic title. The approval was also given for the election into a scientific position at one Faculty.
The UNSA Senate decided to run a competition call for faculty election at the following member institutions: Faculties of Electrical Engineering, Political Science, Transport and Communications, Health Studies, Philosophy, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Pedagogy, Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Dental Medicine with Clinics, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine.
The approval was granted for the engagement of visiting professors at the Faculty of Philosophy.
At the session held Decisions rendered for 44 candidates in the process of acquiring a doctorate of science/arts.
The Senate approved the proposed amendments to curricula and to the competition call for enrolment in third cycle of studies (PhD studies).
The approval was also granted on for the fee of an interdisciplinary study “IT in Administration” to be implemented by the Faculty of Public Administration, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and Faculty of Economics.
The Senate accepted the agreed drafts of contracts to be signed between the Sarajevo Canton Government and the founder of theological Faculties (Faculty of Islamic Studies and the Faculty of Catholic Theology).
The Senate also adopted the University of Sarajevo’s’ Rulebook on Business Trips forwarded it to the Steering Committee for taking further actions.
The Senate adopted the University Publishing Council’s report and approved printing of three publications as a university issues. At the initiative of the Publishing Council, the Senate allowed organizational units to have on their own publications which are not university publications, the University of Sarajevo’s crest on the cover and title page, only with the prior consent of the UNSA Publishing Council.
Within the “International cooperation” item, the Senate approved:
• signing of the Memorandum of Understanding and the Students Exchange Agreement between the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (Seoul, Korea) and the University of Sarajevo,
• the extension of the Cooperation Agreement between the Istanbul Technical University and the University of Sarajevo.
The Senate adopted the report of the Commission for the Foreign Higher Education Qualifications Recognition.
