UNSA Senate held its regular 35th Session on 15 July 2015, with eight agenda items.
At the Session, UNSA Rector, Prof. Dr. Muharem Avdispahic, HonDSc, presented the appointment decision for Prof. Dr. Sacir Filandra, to the position of the Faculty of Political Sciences Dean Sarajevo and Dr. Naris Pojskic to the position of the UNSA Institute for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology director.
46 teachers were elected into higher academic titles. The UNSA Senate issued a decision for a call for competition for the appointment of academic staff at: Academy of Fine Arts, School of Economics and Business, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Political Sciences, Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, Faculty of Health Studies, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Catholic Theology, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Education and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
At the Session, Decisions were made for 35 candidates who are in the process of obtaining a doctorate of science at ten UNSA Faculties.
The UNSA Senate, under item the “Curricula Approving” gave its approval to proposed changes.
The approval was granted, following the announcement of the competition for admission of candidates - the UNSA Senate gave consent to requests for additional enrollment in the first year of the first cycle of studies at the University of Sarajevo in the 2015/2016 academic year at organizational units that meet the spatial and personnel capacities in accordance with the standards and norms for higher education activities in the Sarajevo Canton. Requirements units for additional enrollment in the first year of the first cycle of studies at the University of Sarajevo in 2015/2016 year will be sent through the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton to the Sarajevo Canton Government for approval.
Senators were made familiar with the report on implementation of the International Scientific Conference Srebrenica 1995-2015 - Evaluation of legacy and long-term consequences of genocide, which was held 9 to 11th July 2015 in Sarajevo, Tuzla and Srebrenica (Potocari) from 9 to 11 July 2015 in marking of 20th Genocide Anniversary. Organizers were the University of Sarajevo - Institute for Research of Crimes against Humanity and International Law, University of Tuzla and Srebrenica – Potocari Memorial Complex. The conference was attended by 83 researchers from BiH and abroad and 75 papers were presented.
Senators were presented with a Guide for the development and use of standards of qualifications and work in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is the result of a joint project of the European Union and the Council of Europe “Strategic development of higher education and qualification standards”. This guide manual is designed to clarify the role of qualification standards and occupation and how to use them in the best possible way in BiH at the individual, institutional and countrywide levels. Among other things, the manual advises and supports higher education institutions in the development of innovative, high-quality study programs recognized in Europe.
The University Senate was familiarized with the information about the implementation of the Framework Law on Higher Education in Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted at the 9th session of the Council of Ministers of 2 June 2015 and in this respect, adopted conclusions.
