The Slovenian Language Lectureship was opened in the UNSA Ceremonial Hall on Tuesday, 29 September 2015.
Prof. Dr. Muharem Avdispahic, HonDsc, University of Sarajevo Rector; Mr. Gorazd Zmavc, Minister for Slovenians in the world, Prof. Dr. Salih Foco, UNSA Faculty of Philosophy Dean; Prof. Dr. Branka Kalenic Ramsak, University of Ljubljana Faculty of Philosophy Dean; Mr. Stojan Sorcan, Directorate of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology of Slovenia Director and H.E. Iztok Grmek, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia in BiH delivered opening addresses at the ceremony.
Expressing satisfaction over the re-establishment of the Slovenian Language Lectureship at the Faculty of Philosophy, Rector Avdispahic said that the support program of the Republic of Slovenia scientific and research cooperation between the two countries achieved considerable results.
“In the wider European context, the University of Ljubljana is a partner in seven implemented TEMPUS projects or undergoing completion, in three Erasmus Mundus and the Erasmus+ projects and 2 CEEPUS projects. The proportional participation of the University of Maribor, University of Primorska and University of Nova Gorica is proportional” said Rector Avdispahic. He added that Faculties of Economics and Business at the University of Sarajevo and the University of Ljubljana were among the 5% of business schools worldwide that have accreditation issued by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business - the oldest global association dedicated to the advancement of education in the field of management.
“I believe that personnel who are being educated will to get an opportunity to use their knowledge to contribute significantly to the economic progress of society” said Rector Avdispahic.
Prof. Dr. Salih Foco, UNSA Faculty of Philosophy Dean, recalled that at the Faculty of Philosophy the Slovenian Language Lectureship had existed since 1955 and evolved in a very positive direction until 1992. “Slovenian for us means much more than the usual name of a foreign language. These are our close neighbors and friendly country and its language whose culture, traditions, customs, economic system and mode of operation are similar to the mentality and culture of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its peoples. The language is the most powerful tool that connects people, develops and promotes the culture, brings together people, creates trust and opens up prospects for the establishment of a new and better relations between nations and also between countries” Said Dean Foco.
Dean of Faculty of Philosophy, University of Ljubljana, Prof. Dr. Branka Kalenic-Ramsak expressed her joy by saying that it was a major event for the Slovenian university community to attend the reopening if the Slovenian Language Lectureship.
The Slovenian Language Lectureship became operative on the initiative and in cooperation between the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Sarajevo, the Centre for Slovenian as a second foreign language at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Ljubljana and the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo.
The Slovenian Language Lectureship will become operational at the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo in October 2015. The registration begins in late September. The Lectureship will be lead by lecturer, M.Sci. Pavel Ocepek.
The ceremony was completed with the performance entitled “The Road to Love and a Little Further,”. In the performance participated: Irnis Bisco, Ana Bosnjak, Emina Dzindo, Ana Pulko, Amel Aladzuz, Alma Maksumic and Pavel Ocepek.
