Ministers for Education, Science and Youth and Justice and Administration of Sarajevo Canton Prof. Dr. Elvir Kazazovic and Mr. Enver Smajkan had a meeting with the University of Sarajevo Rector. Prof. Dr. Muharem Avdispahic, HonDSc on Tuesday 29 September 2015 regarding the ongoing problem of heat energy supply to the University Campus.
Minister Kazazovic suggested that the “Unis Energetika“ should propose a solution to the problem of heat energy supply to the Campus within three days. Subsequently, the Sarajevo Canton Government would make a final decision on it. As explained by Rector Avdispahic during the meeting, the “Unis Energetika“ company has been illegally using the boiler facility in Campus since 2009, and has been using its position used to blackmail the University and its members by imposing harmful contracts on heating to this institution.
During the meeting, Rector Avdispahic informed the participants that “Unis Energetika,“ as a condition for repossessing the boiler facilities, demands from University of Sarajevo compensation for the resources spent as investments that have been carried out without the consent of the University and without addressing the University’s needs.
“The controversial investments are not the result of Campus users’ needs, but a part of the business plan of the “Unis Energetika“ relating to the major clients such as the State Hospital, UNITIC, Holiday Inn hotel, Alta Mall, who canceled long ago unfavorable contracts and found alternative solutions. The University of Sarajevo’s lost profits caused by “Unis Energetika’s“illegal use of boiler facilities are measured in over seven hundred thousands of BAM” said Rector Avdispahic. He also added that there is urgent need to find the permanent solution.
Minister Smajkan once again underlined that unlawful use of boiler facilities by “Unis Energetika“ in the Campus lasts since 2009, and that organizational units that use thermal energy in the Campus should be provided with heating at appropriate prices.
Otherwise, by the Sarajevo Canton Government’s Decision from 2011, the space and equipment in the boiler facility located in the University of Sarajevo Campus, are free of charge given to use to the KJKP “Toplane Sarajevo“in order to conduct the business of the production and distribution of thermal energy to users based in the University of Sarajevo Campus and other connected users.
At the meeting were also present Mr. Kemal Karic, Sarajevo Canton Attorney, “Unis Energetika“ Director, Mr. Adil Pasic, UNSA Secretary General, Dr. Sci. Suvad Konakovic, and Deans, directors and representatives of the UNSA Faculties and Institutes that use thermal energy in the University of Sarajevo Campus.
