The UNSA Senate held its regular 36th Session with twelve agenda items on 30 September 2015.
At the session, UNSA Rector, Prof. Dr. Muharem Avdispahic, HonDsc presented the Decision on the appointment of Prof. Mr. Mevludin Zecevic to the position of Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, and Prof. Dr. Fatih Destovic to the position of the Faculty of Education Dean.
50 teachers from sixteen Faculties and two Academies were elected into higher academic titles and approval given for three elections in scientific positions at one institute. In the position of full professor, Prof. Dr. Senka Barudanovic (Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics) was elected.
The University of Sarajevo Senate issued a Decision announcing a competition call for election of academic and scientific staff at: School of Economics and Business, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Political Sciences, Faculty of Sports and Physical Education, Faculty of Health Studies, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Philosophy, Faculty of Catholic Theology, Faculty of Medicine, Academy of Music, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Forestry and the Language Institute, University of Sarajevo.
The equivalence of completed elections was approved in the Faculty of Philosophy and Faculty of Medicine, University of Sarajevo, and approval given to the involvement of academic staff and visiting professors at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies, Faculty of Philosophy, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Medicine and the Academy of Music, University of Sarajevo.
The approval was granted to the list of teachers for the implementation of the second cycle of “European Studies” program at the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of the University of Sarajevo for the 2015/2016 academic year.
At the session, Decisions were also made for 60 candidates in the process of acquiring a PhD at University of Sarajevo’s faculties.
The University of Sarajevo Senate, under the item “Curricula Approving” gave approval to proposed amendments.
Senators were introduced with the dynamics of student enrollment in the first year of the first cycle of studies at the University of Sarajevo in 2015/2016 study year. Senators also approved the requests of the Academy of Fine Arts, Faculty of Architecture, Faculty of Sports and Physical Education, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Dental Medicine with Clinics and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine for additional enrollment in the first year of the first cycle of studies. Additional enrolment requests by UNSA organizational units in the first year of the first cycle of studies at the University of Sarajevo in 2015/2016 year will be delivered sent through the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton, to the Sarajevo Canton Government for approval.
Under item “Student issues”, the work of the Student Parliament and student associations was discussed. The UNSA Senate is also informed that the competition for “Suada Dilberovic” Fund for purposes of scholarship granting to socially vulnerable and extremely talented students of the University of Sarajevo is planned in October 2015.
The Decision on announcing an internal call for applications for allocation of funds to the Federal Ministry of Education and Science for funding/co-financing of projects in the field of science and science projects of equipping the institutions of importance for the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the Budget for 2015 was rendered.
At the session, the proposed Unified Rulebook on salaries and allowances of staff at the University of Sarajevo was determined, which will be submitted to the Board of Directors for further processing.
The Senate also considered and adopted the opinion of the normative issues related to adoption/harmonization of employment rules in the context of the Labor Law, which entered into force on 20 August 2015 in relation to the question of extending the deadline for the selection of the academic staff in the same or higher rank because of maternity leave.
The Senate adopted the report of the University Publishing Council and gave approval to the two publications to be printed as university textbooks.
The Senate adopted the Report of the Commission for the recognition of foreign higher education qualifications.
