UNSA Rector, Prof. Dr. Muharem Avdispahic, HonDSc promoted 39 doctors of science and art in UNSA Rectorate's Conference Hall on Thursday, 18 February 2016. At promotion ceremony, 39 candidates were promoted into doctors of sciences and arts: 8 into doctors of medical sciences, 6 into doctors of political science, 5 into doctors of biological sciences, 4 candidates into doctors of technical sciences, the 3 candidates into doctors of social sciences, one into doctor of pharmaceutical sciences and one into doctor of legal sciences, one into doctor of dental medicine sciences, 2 candidates into doctors of chemical sciences, and one into the doctor from the area of defense and security and one doctor into doctor of musicology - the history of music.
Emphasizing that today's promotion was held in the week in which started with major symbolic meaning: Bosnia and Herzegovina’s applying for the EU candidate status, Rector Avdispahic said that the University of Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina was the institution that had the greatest potential to contribute to the overall social development towards achieving the goal of all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina: the life and work in a normal European-ordered state.
“The modern age in Europe began with braking of with four idols and the establishment of new instruments for acquiring knowledge which warns us in wrong ways of exaggeration and distortion, challenges that all world phenomena put through the prism of what belongs to our area of commitment, the dangers that our words become a substitute for thought, or to succumb to the authority of false knowledge” said Rector Avdispahic. In his address to newly promoted doctors, said “You are our new power. Now when you are about to join the proven company of experts trained for independent scientific work, a very important aspect of your share in the processes that should contribute to forming this society in a society that is able to develop according to autonomously chosen goals is your confirmation in your chosen career at higher international standards.”
