Technical Cooperation Memorandum

 

 

Memorandum  on Technical Cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and BH Telecom Signed


Aware of fact that ICT technologies improve the quality of scientific and educational process and telecommunications services, the University of Sarajevo and BH Telecom, Sarajevo entered into a Memorandum on Technical Cooperation. In June 2016, UNSA Rector, Prof. Dr. Muharem Avdispahic HonDSc, Mr. Mirsad Zaimovic, BH Telecom CEO and the deans of 25 UNSA Faculties and Academies signed the Memorandum.

The Memorandum envisages the realization of business and technical cooperation via following: delivery of standard communication services that BH Telecom has in its portfolio, the mass testing and system adjustment, joint development of services for the University, the joint development of services for third parties and research and other projects of mutual interest.

At the press conference of 21 July 2016, Prof. Dr. Muharem Avdispahic, HonDSc, University of Sarajevo Rector, Dr. Tarik Carsimamovic, BH Telecom Technology and Development Services Executive Director and Prof. Dr. Sasa Mrdovic, University Tele-Informatics Center - UTIC Director presented the Memorandum signed between the University of Sarajevo and BH Telecom dd Sarajevo and planned joint activities.

Prof. dr. Muharem Avdispahic, UNSA Rector reminded that the first EU project that University of Sarajevo created and internationally coordinated immediately after the war the Development of Information Technologies although the University had suffered material damage during the siege and shelling of the City estimated then to 300 million US dollars. In Dayton Bosnia and Herzegovina, among the first registered institutions that had crossed the newly established entity boundaries were the COBISS BiH Center and BIHARNET Center BiH, established by all public BH universities. Within the project of building the library-information system and the establishment of academic research network, the University of Sarajevo acquired from a Slovenian partner a PTT device which was dividing 2 kilobits packages into smaller ones that were then a benchmark for the scope of internet communication speed

Dr. Tarik Carsimamovic stressed that through this Memorandum BH Telecom facilitates the access access to modern communications solutions for academic community.

Prof. Dr. Sasa Mrdovic, said that this Memorandum should open a new chapter of cooperation between state companies and state Universities.
“We hope that this is just the beginning and that soon similar Memoranda will be signed with other state-owned companies. From technical perspective, this Memo facilitates for the University the creation technical conditions for the establishment of true academic network of the University.”
