The Confucius Institute at the University of Sarajevo is a unique international university cooperation project and contribution of Chinese and Bosnian academic communities in building good relations between the two countries. This is one of the findings identified during the visit by the Northwest pedagogical universities from Gansu Province delegation, People's Republic of China, to the University of Sarajevo. The reason for visiting is the Confucius Institute at the University of Sarajevo which started and developed as a joint project of international cooperation between two universities.

At the University of Sarajevo on Friday 23 September 2016, the annual meeting of the Confucius Institute at the University of Sarajevo Council was held. The following persons attended the meeting: representatives of the Northwest Pedagogical University Prof. Dr. Shu Tian, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Mr. Quan Xiaohui, Director of the Office of International Cooperation, and Ms. Mei Sun from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange. The University of Sarajevo was represented by Prof. Dr. Muharem Avdispahic HonDSc, Rector, Prof. Dr. Ugo Vlaisavljevic, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, and Ms. Jasna Bosnjovic, Head of International Cooperation; and representatives of the Confucius Institute at the University of Sarajevo: Mr. La Weixin and Mr. Miroslav Zivanovic.

At the annual meeting, the report on the activities and results so far of the Confucius Institute at the University of Sarajevo were discussed, and out guidelines for future action of the Institute set out.

The common conclusion is that the Confucius Institute at the University of Sarajevo already is and will remain an important factor in building strong and friendly relations between the two countries.
