The University Senate held its 3rd regular session on 28 December 2017 with fourteen agenda items.

At the session, the proposal for the UNSA Senate Rules of Procedure was discussed and sent to the Committee for Legal Issues, as well as to expert and advisory bodies of the Senate for opinion on the compliance with the provisions of the Law on Higher Education of the in the Sarajevo Canton and the University of Sarajevo Statute.

15 teachers were appointed into academic titles - Prof. Drs. Nusret Isanovic (Faculty of Islamic Studies), Sinisa Kovac (Faculty of Sports and Physical Education), Samir Muzaferija (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering) and Milenko Blesic (Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences).

The Senate decided to announce the competition call for election of academic staff at: Faculties of Sports and Physical Education, Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies, Transportation and Communications, Mechanical Engineering, Agriculture and Food Sciences, Natural Sciences and Mathematics and Faculty of Administration - associated member.

The approval was granted for the engagement of academic staff at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering from other higher education institutions in the academic 2016/2017.

At the session, Decisions were also made for 31 candidates in the process of PhD acquiring at ten Faculties, one Academy and the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies.

Under the item “Curricula approving”, the Senate gave approval for the curriculum of the second cycle of studies - Software Engineering at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

The final list of candidates for admission to the first year of the third cycle of studies – PhD studies (study programs Mechanical constructions) at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was approved.

The approval was given to the announcement of the competition call for admission of candidates at the proposed doctoral studies.

At the session, the Senate appointed members of the Council for Science and the Arts at the University of Sarajevo.

The Senate accepted the opinion of the Committee for Legal Issues, as an expert and advisory body of the Senate, number: 0105-7922/16 of 22 December 2016, relating to amendments to the Unified Rulebook on Staff Salaries and Allowances.

At the session, the Senate appointed members of the Committee for Quality Management and constituted the Committee of the Board for the development of the University of Sarajevo.

The Commission for drafting amendments to the Rules of study for the second course of studies at the University of Sarajevo was appointed.

The Senate gave its consent to the Development Strategy of the Institute for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for the period 2017-2027.


The Senate adopted the Report of the University Publishing Council and approved publishing of one book as a university release.

The Senate adopted the Report of the Commission for recognition of foreign higher education qualifications.

In accordance with the initiative proposed by the Students’ Parliament on cancelation of lectures and exam periods at UNSA Faculties and Academies during central weekly prayers of Moslems, Catholics Orthodox and followers of other religions, the Senate recommended to member institutions to keep in mind religious practices of students when preparing activities.
