European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) Representatives Visit
The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) representatives and organizers of “Sarajevo School of High Energy Physics 2017”: Prof. Christoph Schäfer, Prof. Claude Charlot, Prof. Tadeusz Kurtyka and Prof. Ilja Dorsner visited the University of Sarajevo on Tuesday 16 May 2017. UNSA Rector Prof. Dr. Rifat Skrijelj, and Vice-Rectors Prof. Drs. Izet Radjo, Zijad Mehic, Aida Hodzic and Zeljko Sain received distinguished guests.
During the meeting, the possibilities of Bosnia and Herzegovina becoming a member of the CERN community and possibilities of cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and CERN were discussed. The possibilities would contribute to the use of many benefits in educational programs, improving working research laboratories, and organizing summer schools.
The School of High Energy Physics was also discussed at the meeting; whose organization is supported by CERN. The school is taking place from 15 to 20 May at the UNSA Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
The cooperation with CERN for the University of Sarajevo would be of great importance, especially bearing in mind that cooperation may not be exclusively limited to the field of physics. The cooperation may include scientists and researchers in medicine, biotechnology, industrial technology, including the special artistic program - “Arts at CERN.”
