At the Athletic Club Sarajevo’s field, on Friday 2 June 2017, “Olympic Day” was organized by the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina in cooperation with the UNSA Faculty of Sports and Physical Education.
Participants actively participated in the presentation of eight Olympic sports: athletics (shot put, discus throw, hammer throw, javelin-vortex and sprint at 100 meters with and without hurdle), shooting, archery, beach volleyball, judo, table tennis, badminton and football.
The following BH Olympic athletes, professional coaches and athletes participated in the event: Nedzad Fazlija, Hamza Alic, Kemal Mesic, Larisa Ceric and Emina Hadziahmetovic, Amel Mekic, Damir Dzumhur, Mirza Basic, Tanja Karisik, Marko Rudic, Mladen Plakalovic, Dzemo Bosnjak, Slavenko Likic, Nihad Basic, Elvedin Muzaferia etc.
The Olympic Day was introduced in 1948 in memory of the birth of the modern Olympic Games on 23 June 1894 in Paris. The aim was to promote participation in sports throughout the world, regardless of age, gender or physical fitness. A number of participating Olympic Committees in the organization is greater than 150, among them the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina is.
