A new issue of the journal Synthesis philosophica 62 (2/2016), entirely devoted to Islamic and comparative philosophy, represents the cultivation of a new spirit of philosophy breaking through classical boundaries and opens its understanding of "universality" towards a multitude of cultural and intellectual history.

This special number on 256 pages contains texts in English by following authors: Nevad Kahteran, Daniela Bucan, Snjezana Veljacic-Akpinar, Cedomil Veljacic, Bo Mou, Ali Pay, Nader El-Bizri, Osman Bakar, Massimo Campanini, Mehdi Aminrazavi Sara Sviri, Zeljko Pasha, Alexander N. Chumakov and Maja Veselic. In contrast with the numerous cacophonies in view of the traditions involved here, Kahteran and Bucan, as guest editors of this special number, with other authors through collaborative conversation and opening for critical dialogue and exchange, have achieved the goal of Islamic philosophy in the world perspective - overcoming prevailing stereotypes as part of a wider project of comparative research and intercultural considerations in the intercultural context of our modernity, with the idea of philosophical resonance and essential complementarity of various philosophical positions.
