University of Sarajevo Senate Extraordinary Session
on the Law on Higher Education Implementation
The UNSA Senate held the 8th extraordinary session on Wednesday, 6 September 2017, with two agenda items:
1. Implementation of the Law on Higher Education in Sarajevo Canton ("Official Gazette of Canton Sarajevo" No. 33/17).
2. Amendments to the UNSA Academic Calendar for the 2016/2017 academic year.
The Law on Higher Education in Sarajevo Canton (“SC Official Gazette“ No. 33/17) entered into force on 1 September 2017.
The University of Sarajevo started implementing the Law on Higher Education, and at its Senate session reviewed the regulations of the Law with deadlines for drafting by-laws and implementing acts.
Senators were briefed on information that the Sarajevo Canton Government on 17 August 2017, established the Commission for monitoring the implementation of the Law on Higher Education, which among other things is made by representatives of the University of Sarajevo.
It was concluded that the UNSA Senate will register all shortcomings, i.e. parts of the Law that are non-conductive within the prescribed deadlines, and through their representatives in the monitoring Commission, delegate proposals for improvement or amendment of the Law by urgent procedure.
By implementing Article 64 (6) of the Law on Higher Education of Sarajevo Canton and Article 56 of the UNSA Statute, at the Session a Decision approving amendments to the Academic Calendar of the University of Sarajevo for the 2016/2017 academic year was adopted with the calendar of activities of organizing and realization of study programs at the University of Sarajevo in the academic year 2016/2017. This Decision allows organizational units to organize the second September deadline, in accordance with spatial and human resources, no later than 5 October 2017.
