CICOP Italy - Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Architecture, organizes the 4th International Conference “The Importance of Place” to be held at the Faculty of Architecture, from 20 to 23 October 2017 under the auspices of the City of Sarajevo and UNESCO.

The official opening of the conference will be held in the Sarajevo City Hall on Friday, 20 October 2017, at 9:30.

The International Conference will present works on the topic “Cities and Cultural Landscapes: between recognition, preservation and usage.” Within a wider socio-cultural and political context, cities are living spaces and places of collective identity. Rapid urbanization creates a pressure on availability and the way of using current resources, while urban heritage is exposed to an increasing number of threats. The main goal of the conference is to promote the environment and sustainable development of the existing heritage of cultural landscapes. The conference promotes different approaches to urban conservation, taking into account all aspects of material and non-material heritage.
