Trainingship Programme at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in Den Hag

Nadja Skaljic, a senior student qualified for taking the final exam at the Faculty of law at the University of Sarajevo, has been chosen to do her trainingship programme at the ICTY’s Office of the Persecutor.
This trainingship programme is a part of the joined ICTY and EU project, enabling the young lawyers from the region of the former Yugoslavia to practice the law by actively taking the part in the processes at the Tribunal.
“For me, doing the trainingship in the ICTY’s Office of the Persecutor is a great recognition, representing a significant opportunity for career and a challenge too. I am looking forward to meet and work with prominent colleagues from all over the world, especially those coming from our region. I think nowadays it is crucial to work on establishing of togetherness and peace on the international level. The best way of achieving this is by working on joint projects the Tribunal is resourceful with. Our country must not lag behind in an important process like this, because a versatility of experience is a key factor of the success. Also, the idea of living in the Netherlands makes me happy, a country that has managed to preserve its tradition and be open for the benefits of modern day living at the same time. “stated Nadja Skaljic.
In the March of 2009, Nadja Skaljic represented Bosnia and Herzegovina on the Jessup Competition, taking place in Washington DC, a prestigious competition in the field of the Public International Law. At the moment she is a senior student qualified for taking the final exam at the Faculty of Law. Also, she has studied law and political sciences at the University of Washington. Nadja Skaljic has been working for two years as a consultant for the Open Society Institute in New York, whose main focus are the youth projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
