The Graduation Ceremony of the University of Sarajevo’s Academies and Faculties
On Tuesday, 2 November in the Conference Hall of the Rectorate of the University of Sarajevo a press conference had been held at which the activities concerning the organization of festive promotions graduates and graduate colleges and academies of the University of Sarajevo were presented that will be held on Saturday 6 November 2010, in "Juan Antonio Samaranch" the Olympic Hall, starting at 11.00 hours.
On that occasion, Prof. Dr Faruk Čaklovica, Rector of the University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr Slavenka Vobornik, Vice Rector for Teaching, Prof. Dr Samir Arnautović, Vice Rector for International Cooperation, Prof. Dr Hazim Bašić, Vice Rector for Research, Prof. Dr Senad Burak, Manager of the University Tele-Informatics Center (UTIC), Mr. Zoran Selesković, Secretary General of the University of Sarajevo and Adnan Bajrić, President of the University of Sarajevo’s Students Parliament (SPUS) addressed the media and the best students of the University of Sarajevo in 2009/2001 academic year.
At the Graduation Ceremony that is being organized for 6th time in the University of Sarajevo’s history, 5.965 graduates will be promoted
Rector Prof. Dr Faruk Čaklovica stated out that everything was ready for the ceremony, whose holding demanded thorough and serious preparations, and expressed his expectations that Graduation Ceremony this year would represent the most solemn performance of the University’s power up to now.
“We are ready to present ourselves in our full capacity as the strongest universities in B&H. Graduates are the strongest intellectual power that BH society produces, and University of Sarajevo produces one half of it; the University of Sarajevo contributes to the BH society as much as all other 7 seven state universities together” said Rector Čaklovica and stated that the students of the Sarajevo University would be certainly a strong support to faster and more successful development of this higher education institution.
Mr. Zoran Selesković, Secretary General, presented general information about preparations for organizing of this most important University of Sarajevo’s event, and stated out that in the programme preparation, as well as in the organizing process, all three University of Sarajevo’s member academies participated: Music Academy, Academy of Performing Arts, Academy of Fine Arts, and Students Parliament representatives. “Preparing the event of such magnitude takes a lot of patience and efforts, and we expect approximately 12000 guests in the “Juan Antonio Samaranch” Olympic Hall on Saturday, November 6.”
Prof. Dr Senad Burak, Manager of the UTIC media, as well as the most successful students, presented to the media the process of administration, programming, design and printing of diplomas and diploma supplements, which had been implemented by University Tele-Informatics Centre by using data from the Information System of Student Services (ISSS), University of Sarajevo. Manager Burak congratulated to the best students and urged graduates to continue their education and to accept the concept of lifelong education, and to assist Bosnia and Herzegovina on its orientation towards the knowledge society.
"The promotion taking place this year at the University of Sarajevo has historical dimension in full sense of the word, not only for the University of Sarajevo, but for higher education in Bosnia and Herzegovina in global. For the first time in higher education in B&H we will have a precise number of promoted Bologna master graduates „said Prof. Dr Hazim Bašić, Vice Rector for Research.
On behalf of the best students in 2009/2010 academic year, Irfan Glogić made an address, who graduated with the average grade of 10.00 at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science degree with a grade point average of 10.00, and thanked the management and administration of the University of Sarajevo for attention that has been expressed to the best students.
On behalf of the University of Sarajevo's Students Parliament, Adnan Bajrić, President, addressed to the attendants and the best graduates congratulating them and wishing them best in jobs they will perform.
At a press conference the most successful graduates of faculties and academies of the University of Sarajevo in 2009/2010 academic year were awarded by the Rector Prof. Dr Faruk Čaklovica with the anthology entitled "History of Bosnian Spirituality" - Contributions to the history of spiritual life in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 4 volumes, by Academician Muhamed Filipovic.
At the Graduate Promotion Ceremony, the most successful graduates of University of Sarajevo's faculties and academies in the 2009/2010 academic year will be awarded with the "Golden Badge of the University of Sarajevo" and with the corresponding cash prizes.
The University of Sarajevo's Graduate Promotion Ceremony has been organized with the support of the gold sponsor -the Government of Sarajevo Canton, also sponsored by the BH Telecom, Sarajevska pivara, Bosna Sunce osiguranje, and media sponsors: the Canton Sarajevo TV, BHT 1, FTV and the Student eFM radio.
The Canton Sarajevo TV will directly broadcast the ceremony which is starting in 11 hours.
